Stuck in the mud

I need advice, or just a voice that’s not my own counsel. Nice or harsh I relapsed last night after 8 days. After hyping myself up and feeling proud, doing all these positive things THAT DAY, I slipped on the mud in the blink of an eye and it’s like none of those positives even happened. I feel a lot of different emotions and trying to sort them out. I’m feeling very heavy today.

You don’t lose the experience you had when you stopped drinking. It doesn’t disappear. You just learn from it, forgive yourself, and start again as soon as you can.
It’s a disease. And those heavy feelings and different emotions are part of a cycle of craving that takes time and help to break. Willpower alone does not work for people who drink like I used to.

Praying for you. Learn from it, but more importantly, get to the source of drinking. Start with your childhood and go from there. I believe it's something that you're trying to numb.
I did just that. Feel much better.
All the best.

Thanks guys. Trying to stay in high spirits but I can feel the gravity in the clouds so I feel uncomfortable, ya know? It was definitely a trigger response, I know what happened and why I lost control and I want to show myself compassion but I’m disappointed and feel hypocritical so I don’t know how to improve those negative thoughts. Looking at the progress seems useless.

dont beat yourself up. the worst thing you can do is feel youve been defeated completely. you mightve lost this battle but there is still a war to be won. you will overcome this disease. you still have a chance.

No one said it would be easy . Especially when we are conditioned to certain behaviors . Pick yourself up again and know that you are not alone . Stay strong I remind myself daily it’s one day at a time .

Don’t beat yourself up, which I know is hard to not do…we’ve all been there. The best thing to do in this situation, at least in my opinion, is to learn from it what you can, stand back up and keep trucking along! I know it might not seem like it atm but because of your lapse you will be stronger. Hang in there man, just because we stumble doesn’t mean we have to stay down in the mud.
You got this!

Did you learn something? What are you going to change? Don’t overcomplicate it. Were you not going to meetings? Did you put yourself in a dangerous situation?
