Sugar anyone?!

So I have been sober for 9 months and 19 days today!!! I’m extremely proud of this fact, but someone know one talked about in treatment are the insane sugar cravings!

Honestly I was fine with the craving 3 months in….6 months in….but now going into my 10th month it’s like if I don’t polish off a bag of peach rings at night I can’t sleep. Anyone else struggle with this right now? Suggestions?

*yes my diet is very healthy otherwise, I do exercise, try to sleep 8 hours a night, and drink almost a gallon of water a day. I’m currently not taking any medication that’s increases hormones or hunger.

Oh yeah those cravings are real. I was addicted to ice cream for a long time!

I haven’t ate sweets in years and now that I’m not drinking, I can’t stop with the sweets. I’m hoping it passes.

Add more fruit and try to get natural sugar in that manner. Also chewing on sugar cane was fun as a kid. Milk shakes has been my thing :heart:

Sugar cravings are real. Candies, ice cream, you name it. Slowly getting away from those sources and, as Joseph A suggested, I'm doing the fresh fruit thing with bananas (nature's Snickers bar), blue and strawberries and apples. With unsweetened almond milk makes a great smoothie or with plain Greek yogurt makes for a healthy desert.

Oh man the peach rings is too real! I gained a lot of weight around 3 to 5 months in. I started adding super sweet (zero sugar) water additives (skittles, starbursts etc brands make the packets, try walmart!) to help with the cravings for sugar and Light & Fit greek yogurts help with the sweet tooth really well. Fresh fruit is also helpful!

Smoothies helped me for sure.

Increase your fiber intake and increase your protein intake. Keep in mind when you were drinking. All of that alcohol turns into sugar and now your body is missing it. To this day I still struggle with sugar cravings. Try getting them from a natural source if possible, like fruit or chew sugar-free gum to thwart the cravings

Smoothies are delicious and unfortunately loaded with sugar.

I just listened to a great Huberman Lab regarding sugar. It’s a couple weeks old check it out. Will give you a lot of answers. He has on a scientist/doctor who is an expert on the subject.

Reese’s minis for me
