Never been one to crave sugar & I can’t seem to cut the sugar out. Over 7 months sober, packing on lbs with sugar. Will it stop?! Anyone else experienced/experiencing?
I’ll be 6 mos sober Jan 12th and had the same thing. BAD! I just downloaded the simple app and I’m doing intermittent fasting. It has been a game changer for me. I started Monday so almost a week and I don’t crave sweets at all. I feel for ya!
Checking it out ASAP. TY!
I’m almost 9 months and still have the sugar cravings. My keep for weight loss is just managing little to no sugar throughout the day and then once I am relaxing after dinner I have my sugar fix (Reese’s or Drumstick Icecream). Thought the day I maintain a recommended diet from my nutritionist. I still have to receive blood lab work every two weeks because of a transplant and this seems to work for me. Going cold blood on sugar is just as hard as alcohol lol. For me at least
Yeah, sugars a killer. It replaces that high we use to have when using in the brain. Same receptors. It’s why they put candy out in meetings. Lol
This post makes me laugh, simply because we addicts seem to always go to sugar in sobriety to stimulate that dopamine. I joke with people sometimes that I need to get help for my candy bar addiction. Sugar addicts anonymous?
Have you lost weight doing the intermittent fasting??
I started last Monday and have lost 7 lbs. I really like the simple app. It helps me see the benefits and I don’t starve.
I have a year and a half and my sweet tooth is still in overdrive. I used to not be crazy about sugar but I am obsessed with it now. Same boat!
Thank you for your share! You are not alone in the sugar cravings…. I am almost 1 year and 9 months sober and still have them. They are not what they were in my first year but still get them and indulge. Much better than the alternative. Gotta run, I hear I’ve cream calling my name from freezer
Sugar is the worst
Two years and I am a sugar monster. It’s better than booze and I workout hard.
Peanut M&Ms. Like a deep love for them out of nowhere!!!
Switched to frozen grapes
I try to get a dopamine hit from running or cardio and then I don’t feel so bad when I indulge my sweet tooth. Plus running is excellent therapy!
In my first year I did not deny myself anything except alcohol. And slowly over time as my cravings for alcohol diminished and I gained clarity, my cravings for nicotine, caffeine and sugar decreased. I was able to quit smoking after about 5-6 months. Sugar and caffeine are in a range I feel comfortable with now. I have used intermittent fasting successfully a few times but it all comes back (for me) when I stop the diet.
The simple app?
Yes, look in your App Store for Simple. I love it!
7+ months sober 40 lbs heavier. It used to be can't walk past the liquor store now it's the bakery lol
