Besides reading books to increase my knowledge about my addiction. Start by doing yoga and meditation. Set a new goal, and explore ways (systems) to achieve that goal. Or, just go for daily walks and listen to music. This has helped me not to think about feeding my addiction.

Music. Writing it, playing it, recording it, playing it with others, performing. I’m kind of using the 12 step program to rediscover and rebuild my spiritual experience of things… that’s led me to more travel, NA, CMA, AA events and outings. Also, I’m going to be enrolling in school soon. Start small, think big. When I’m doubt… do what brought you joy in the past. Just don’t pick up drugs, hang around it or people that use, and remember that you’re not alone bro.

I spent my entire first year
learning everything I could about addiction and how to recover. I joined AA and went at least once and up to three times a day. I carefully listened to people who have time sober. I eventually cultivated a plan to stay sober and gain a very good life. 3.5 years sober now I could not have imagined how great my life became. Still go to AA 4-5 meetings a week and really enjoy the fellowship

I usher at four different venues (2 local theatres, 1 classical music and 1 that offers a mix of performances) and am an active unitarian where I am involved in meetings and event planning. I also just started a 7 week tennis league and I'll play at least twice a week.

Play guitar

Reading, writing, and riding my bike saved my life!

Hiking!

Might sound crazy but I just got a sewing machine haha not sure why but figure it will keep me busy trying to learn how to use it

Sorry for being like that

Great comments. I have been able to add new things into my routine which adds positive mental and physical benefits like quitting sugar (5 months after quitting booze). At first I was okay with the sugar bc anything is better than drinking but after awhile it clearly messed w my brain in the same way.
