I'm one month sober and having a hard time. I keep reaching out to friends just trying to hangout so I won't feel so alone but everyone seems to have plans or are busy. My girlfriend of 7 years broke up with me 6 months ago and I feel like I'm utterly alone in this world. Does anyone have any ideas how I can fulfill the human connection I need. I don't want to go back to the bottle but Im feeling worn really thin right now. I did go to an AA meeting but it didn't seem like a good fit for me personally. Any suggestions would be helpful.

I’ve found connections at mt local recovery center. There’s many different meetings and a drop in center. I like the Smart Recovery meetings.

Hi Alphonse! Have you tried seeking out groups for hobbies that you may have? Meet up has groups for all kinds of things. Might be an option for making some connections. Alternatively, there are lots of other types of recovery programs than AA. SMART Recovery, Recovery Dharma, and We Are the Luckiest might be good options for you.

Thanks for the replies guys. I am intrigued by the smart recovery, sadly it looks like the only local meeting is on a hiatus.

Keep looking.aa . Org. And other meetings in other ways.
