Super hungover today. Caved last night and went all out

Super hungover today. Caved last night and went all out. Fell asleep on the floor. I had 8 days sober. I hate this feeling and will try to remember it next time.

Next time?

Next time I am thinking about drinking. I went to a bar and said that I was just gonna stick to water and diet coke. That lasted about 15 mintes.

Yeppers. Common. Why you avoid those places like they have the plague when staying sober. Although, didn’t you just post the other day you thought you could use in “moderation”?

Well, I was asking if anyone here did. I feel better when I am not drinking for sure. I'm trying. Just nit sure if I can commit to forever. I have tried and failed a bunch.

Busted. Easier said than done

Well, just hope you be ok. Hitting rock bottom can hurt. Did me.

Thank you

Hi Daphne, what are you doing to support your sobriety? As a gentle suggestion, bars in early sobriety are usually not a good idea.

Yeah, I know. I should not have even gone in. I listen to Recovery elevator daily, and I have another app Sober Time, that I use. I dont go to AA because I live in a tiny town and I am to scared to.

Its wierd because I have a siber friend who goes out all the time and doesnt drink. So I feel like I should be able to do that too. I guess it isnt that east for me. Plus once I start I do not stop.

Ooo, Recovery Elevator is good! There are a ton of other online programs if you’re interested in meetings. Most of us find them to be super helpful and they seem to be a part of most long term sobriety. Some suggestions: SMART Recovery, The Luckiest Club, Recovery Dharma, Celebrate Recovery, Women for Sobriety. Also, AA has meetings all over the world that you can attend through zoom, if you’re interested in a good AA meeting I have a suggestion there too.

The baffling part happens at the point where alcohol stops doing things for you and starts doing things to you. It’s like the simple calculation that always worked stops working. Then you start to try to rearrange the formula and nothing works.
Hanging out in a bar for folks like us just doesn’t usually work out.

I think you are having a strong realization. We are all different in our recovery so be companionate with yourself and your needs as they will vary from others.

Your not alone. Just join any zoom. I even joined meeting while in the hospital
