Surviving Weddings Sober 🤍

With about 12 days of sobriety under my belt… I’m going to attend a wedding, with open bar. And I will NOT be drinking.

My Honest Concerns:
(They may not be rational, but it’s really what concerns me.)

:flushed: Feeling socially awkward.
:flushed: Giving up impulsively.
:flushed: Being pressured to drink.
:flushed: Getting bored.
:flushed: People asking why I’m not drinking.

My game plan:

:white_heart: Drink club soda and lime all night. Everyone will think there’s Tito’s in it, bwaha fools!

:white_heart: Spend more time on the dance floor than I normally would. Cause what else am I supposed to do :woman_shrugging:t2:

:white_heart: Leave early. My husband got us a hotel room near the venue so we could Uber back wasted. Jokes on him, I’m the Uber now. My plan is to tempt him with hotel playtime :smiling_imp::upside_down_face: so we can leave before everyone (read: he) blacks out. Not cause I’m tryna be controlling, but because I don’t wanna be a drunksitter.

Guys, please drop any other good tips and hacks for surviving a wedding sober. If you don’t have any tips, maybe share some inspiration with me!

(Please don’t tell me to skip, I can’t.)

Sounds like you have it planned out pretty well speaking from experience if you do start to feel uncomfortable then just go but I bet you're going to have a good time and the nights going to end before you know it and you're going to see how well you did getting through it I would think the same thing people wondering how come I'm not drinking but you know what that was in my own head they didn't care at all if I was or wasn't they weren't paying attention to that that was something that was just going on in my crazy mind LOL so hopefully this helps you and some aspect

I’m also going to a wedding in two weeks, but I’m going solo. I’ve got guys from my smart group that will face time me throughout the night seeing as it will be in a different state.

Just noticing how emotions are so bogged with alcohol. I went to a wedding and everyone kept asking me "have a drink with me ..." ill have some water with lemon thank you and I let them know politely sorry I do not drink anymore and if they don't respect you than leave lol

Don’t even bother with goodbyes. When you’ve had enough just go. Sadly or not sadly when people are drinking they don’t even notice when you slip out! Think how awesome you’ll feel when you wake up and go have a delicious breakfast or have a nice walk and be grateful you made it through sober!

You're going to do great. And have fun seeing what we looked like when we got drunk at weddings. Pay attention to the anxiety others are feeling and notice how quickly they go for a drink. Watch as the night goes on and you start to have revolving conversations with people who are blacked out on their feet. And, enjoy not being hungover the next morning. Have fun!
