Sweet tooth

It’s been 21 days since i had a drink but I am craving sweets like never before. Anyone going through the same?

Holy moly, YES. I’ve been craving pastries so much lately.
There’s nothing wrong with it though, milkshakes are great for that sudden sweet tooth. Even a healthy sweet shake can help.

Yes I am not being too tough on myself right now...day 10 and Swiss rolls are helping lol

It’s pretty common. I never have had a sweet tooth so I never got hit with that wave but everyone else I have spoken with had it hit hard. As Sarah mentioned above, don’t be hard on yourself and just go with it. Your body is just craving sugar to make up for the lack of alcohol.

I have been clean a year and a half and I am still craving sweets it’s pretty common

If you’re worried about craving sweets too much also you can try drinking orange juice/eating some fruit!

My craving is EVERTHING sweet lol. I’m never been much of a sweet snacker so hopefully it will pass. Don’t want to end up looking like Ms Piggy :pig: lol.

Yes am am a big fruit eater so I’m trying that route but sometimes chocolate just seems better than fruit :woman_facepalming:t2:

Alcohol converts to sugar, so it’s a normal reaction to have. your body is craving it in the beginning. Have the sweets totally worth it it will help Keep you sober.

Yes it is common I'm 23 yrs clean/sober remember my first weeks n months caught myself in candy alsie more then once. It passes just remember we can loss weight but using kills oh yeah brush your teeth more... :wink:

Congrats on 21 days, that’s amazing! Our bodies start looking for that dopamine hit we used to get from drinking or using. Candy, chocolate, ice cream, even fruit can really help.

Very normal. Carried peppermint candy to cut craving to drink. Later, detox from sugar necessary, but the candy kept me from drinking in the early days and weeks. It gets better

Back when I was in treatment I got everone a little bigger by baking and that was my nitch it has been 25 years

Its common cuz alcohol is loaded with sugar. It's why most meetings have sweets available. Go ahead and have some and try to limit it. But remember a candy bar is much better than picking up a drink. Great job on making it 21 days!
