Taking care of me

I’ve always been on the heavier side, but since getting sober food became my new comfort. I am a yo-yo dieter, failing so many times. I’m grateful I’ve really taken the bull by the horns this time and so far down 7lbs. I am going to try my best to use what I’ve learned in sobriety and apply it to my binge eating. Any advice is welcomed

Eat raw veggies and glass of water when hungry. Very filling.
Have a smoothie every morning.
Replace sweet treats with berries and yogurt with granola.
Easier said than done but elevate your heart rate every day for 30 minutes. It will become routine and you’ll start to feel worse when you don’t.
I’m down 90lbs so far.
Good luck! If you need any other advice, I may have some.

Get yourself a scale so you can properly portion your meals

Thanks for sharing. For me, it’s all about feelings. Sometimes there’s no rhyme or reason why, but I just feel bored or anxious. Food is one of my go to’s to find “comfort”. I’m one of those fitness/body image nuts, so I try to binge on healthier snacks. Either way, I’m binging to bring me comfort. Lately I’ve been trying to catch myself before I binge, and pause for a moment. This is hard because I don’t line to feel. I’m a runner :joy:. My default is to run and find something to comfort me. Lately, I’m trying to find comfort thru meditation or readings. Meditations have been great. It slows me down just enough. It reminds me that I’m ok. Life is ok. I have a roof over my head, food in the fridge, a job, my family is ok, etc. I’m still practicing these techniques. The other night I ate enough grapes to feed half my town lol. Progress not perfection

Personal trainer?! Accept my request I have a few questions 🙋

Congrats on the weight loss! I have similar struggles and recently got a nutritionist to help with accountability but mostly to guide me through having a healthier relationship with food. Only a week in but it's wild the similarities between sugar addiction and alcoholism. Feels good to be sober and able to make my health a priority. I've been doing workout videos from team body project on YouTube which I highly recommend :+1:
