Temptations

I'm on vacation and I'm hiding in my room! There are bars everywhere so I just can't go out at night! What a loser!
I've been here a few days and had no issues...now I'm scaring myself.
I'll be 10 months sober on Thursday and I am working to make it through tonight!!!

Hey! Quit psychology messing with yourself & enjoy yourself... There are plenty of things to do at night that don't involve alcohol. You are ten months and have gotten this far to come up with fun ways to enjoy yourself without having a drink.
Be brave & courageous for yourself.

Stinks you feel that you have to hide, but at end of the day, just get through it and do you. Fomo will go away

It’s amazing to be on vacation sober. To enjoy your surroundings and actually be present. I hope you find strength. Call your sponsor. Go out with someone who knows your sober! Enjoy it. And wake up the next day with no hangover :slightly_smiling_face:

I went to bed. Lol. I was having an argument with myself...out loud!! This is so messed up.
Thanks for the encouragement but I don't think I'll be able to do the Myrtle beach nightlife just yet!
Beach and golf...repeat!
I am looking up a meeting for today. That's a great suggestion!!

Hey. Boy what you just posted is exactly why I haven’t gone away in 3 years. It scares me honestly because going away meant partying but guess what one week of partying can destroy your sobriety and it’s not worth it. Just enjoy as much as you can and stay away from the bar areas. Read, relax and zoom meetings. Don’t give up what you gained. Next summer I am praying to take my first vacation and I spoke to my counselor and his suggestion to me was go somewhere different and start off with a few days. I am really going to try for my husband. I can’t even be in a room with a lot of alcohol. (Well let me say my family parties) because it’s insane how much booze there is every dam occasion. I am so afraid of losing what I have gained in sobriety. You got this. Look you reached out here. Keep doing it as much as you need to. Life gets better. Don’t pick up. Reach out.

I'm in one of my favorite "let's get blacked out" places.
Let's face it...that's all I did for decades.
I came here to prove to myself I can handle it and to enjoy the beach, golf, weather.
I haven't failed! But it's way harder then expected. Mostly boredom and some self pity.
Today is my last day here. I'm tanned and fat from seafood so it's been a success.

Early in my sobriety I had to hide out too. Don’t worry! It gets much better w time. After awhile I could be around partying people and just felt blessed to be sober. Actually I feel a bit sorry for people that drink or do drugs.
Hang in there and stay close to your sober peeps.
