I’ve been absent for a while. I was using alcohol as an excuse for everything I did. Happy? Drink. Sad? Drink. Beach day? Drink. Work day? Drink. The list goes on. This thanksgiving was a real wake up call. I spent all day on the phone with rehab facilities. I went to one that night and felt completely misled and sketched out. So my mom took me home. Since then, I’ve been 1 whole week sober and yesterday I celebrated my 3 months sober from cannabis. I am so proud to share that with you all. I had my dream job lined up a few months ago, and took the opportunity away from myself because I failed a hair follicle drug test. I was devastated, but used it as a wake up call and made something good out of it. I feel beyond happy and proud that I’m on the right track. No longer damaging my health, relationships with loved ones I care about most, and I’m no longer disappointed in the person I’m becoming. I just wanted to extend the good vibes and let you know, I may not personally know you, but I’m proud of your efforts to become a better, healthier, happier, stronger person and I’m very happy you’re here with me fighting this war, one day at a time. Thank you for reading this far and thank you for supporting me and other people who need someone to lean on. If you have any sobriety books, podcasts, audiobooks or magazines that have helped you along the way, please comment them below, it would be greatly appreciated. Thanks again and keep up the great work everyone! How long have you been sober and how do you feel you’ve changed for the better by making that decision for yourself?
