I've started something new this week. Whenever I'm asked how are you? I've started to say " I'm Well thank you! How are you?" and flash a smile. Even if I feel like choking someone out. Stupid? Maybe but it seems to help a little

I do the same. 1/2 smile and say, good TY 
Same with a compliment, I smile and say thank you. End of story. Fake it until you make it I believe
