Thankful

Today i am thankful, just passed my two month mark of being sober.
I was suffering pretty bad from PTSD and anxiety from 20 years of firefighting and the loss of my older brother. I did a 31 day stay at a treatment program in Maryland called "IAFF Center of Excellence" which is designed for firefighters and paramedics. It truly helped get my life back on track.

Thank you Brittany, i appreciate the love!

I can relate to you brother. I have PTSD from 2 yrs of combat in Iraq 03'-05'. In 2016 I went to a 6 month program with the VA in Bay Pines, FL. Truly helped put my life back on track as well. Before that I went through a 3 month dual diagnosis program in 2012 for both substance abuse and PTSD. That program also helped but I was stubborn and had a few reservations up my sleeve.

Thank you brother and glad to hear you are doing better! I have had PTSD for years and thought i was strong enough to beat it on my own. I was also in Iraq as a contract firefighter at Camp Taji (about 10 min helo ride north of Baghdad).
I lost my older brother, also a firefighter to suicide due to PTSD 11 years ago and I was on the scene of that, so i should have known better and seeked help after that.

Thank you as well brother. Good to have you here and to hear that the program/therap has helped youvas well. I was in Adamiya about 10 miles north of Baghdad and An Najaf about 70 miles south of Baghdad. For some reason I can't remember the name of the Camp in An Najaf or Adamiya. I do remember my commander naming the camp in Adamiya after one of his fellow fallen commanders though. In Adamiya we was just a one company FOB.
