You're worst day sober is better than your best day drunk. Good for you starting out, but get sober for you not anyone else. I tried a hundred times to stop drinking for others, but it's truly something you have to do fr yourself so that you can then be preset for others.

It’s insane, what we do, isn’t it?

As you mentioned, booze was your solution - not the problem. Booze is the medicine we take as treatment for a condition called alcoholism. Alcoholism is a mental disease that slowly drives us insane from anxiety, fear, anger, and self-pity. And like any other mental disease, they are located in our minds, not in a bottle.

So we need to keep that in mind when someone tells us all we need to do is just stay sober and things will get better and better. Of course they won’t! We’ve already tried that, many times! Our anxieties and fears just get worse and worse the longer we have to deal with reality sober - and we inevitably relapse because our thoughts are so insane and chaotic we need our medicine to sedate us.

There is a solution though. What just staying sober will never accomplish, a program of recovery will. Go to meetings and connect with recovered alcoholics - they know how to stay sober and will show you how to do it too!

God bless and Merry Christmas!:pray:

Keep up the good work and keep coming back. Don’t know where your work takes you but if you ever make it around Cookeville, we have an awsome recovery center here and host 23 meetings a week. Would love to have you if you are ever coming down this way.
