Well today has been one of the best days I’ve had in a long time. I was invited to a retirement luncheon. My lumber rep is retiring in a couple weeks. It was lovely to enjoy his company and the rest of the men and women his services touched over the years with other contractors.
Now the juicy part. This week leading up to this said event, I’ve been inside my head as I had a good feeling my former boss would be attending this luncheon. Well I was right about that. I owe him and his company an amends. I reached out to my awesome support group in AA which consists of a wide variety of wisdom in amends making. With the help of these brothers and a few days of prayer I was able to politely makes this amends after the the luncheon in the parking lot. I have to say this amends was a huge one on my list and it couldn’t have gone any better. I was able to express my wrong doings, which by the way most of them he had no idea about. I had kept a few tools of his after I had terminated my position. I also told him that I would like to also pay him some cash for dishonesty as an employee. He asked me what the number I had in mind and I told him $250 for every year I worked for him. 16 years I put into his company. And that I have $1000 to give him now and I will pay him $500 a month until it’s paid off. He excepted the terms. We ended up actually chatting about our lives and things that are going on with each other. This is rare but does happen he had apologized to me if he had ever put any fear into me. I completely was thrown off on that one I almost said something stupid. I caught myself and replied thank you. This step is huge. It’s relieved me of so much unnecessary pain. I thought I had burned down that bridge. It turns out I actually strengthened it as long as I hold up Timmy end of the deal and continue to grow spiritually in the Program of Alcoholics Anonymous. Thank you for reading. I hope this gives you hope that we can live better lives. We can clean up our past. We can be in harmony with the world.
That’s so awesome Kevin!!!
Thanks for sharing very cool Kevin I know thats got to feel good!
Thank you
Welcome
It’s definitely a feeling that didn’t want to try to change. It was also a reminder that’s what I use to do when I felt that good. I’d go and get loaded… it’s awesome that I can just sit in my own natural euphoric feelings.
That's great. Thanks for sharing
Wow
Welcome Steve. Thank you
I love this. I totally get this. I'm a contractor, I was an employee. I've been on both sides of this amends.
You have an awesome story. I hope you will continue to share it for the rest of your life. It touched me deeply and so many others will benefit. I'm glad you are as well
