The Art of a Day Off 🦋

A day off isn’t an escape from life.

It’s a return to myself.

Yes, I take care of the things that need attention.
Laundry hums in the background.
Errands get checked off the list.
Life still moves.

But somewhere in the middle of it all… I pause.

I step away from the noise.
From the constant doing.
From the expectation that I must always be producing something.

I’ve learned that decompression is a form of discipline.

It’s allowing my nervous system to exhale.
It’s quiet moments with my thoughts instead of running from them.
It’s choosing stillness so I can return to the world clearer, steadier, and more present.

Once upon a time I thought rest meant I was falling behind.

Now I understand something different.

Rest is part of the work.

And when I give myself the space to breathe,
I return stronger… every single time.

So much wisdom and so well written. I imagine you paid a steep price to be where you are today, but it’s so worth it

You are absolutely right, Lee. Like most of us, I am still healing from things I endured. Situations I put myself in and some not so much. I believe I always will be. Now, I can look back and be proud of where I am today and that’s truly priceless. :purple_heart:
