A day off isn’t an escape from life.
It’s a return to myself.
Yes, I take care of the things that need attention.
Laundry hums in the background.
Errands get checked off the list.
Life still moves.
But somewhere in the middle of it all… I pause.
I step away from the noise.
From the constant doing.
From the expectation that I must always be producing something.
I’ve learned that decompression is a form of discipline.
It’s allowing my nervous system to exhale.
It’s quiet moments with my thoughts instead of running from them.
It’s choosing stillness so I can return to the world clearer, steadier, and more present.
Once upon a time I thought rest meant I was falling behind.
Now I understand something different.
Rest is part of the work.
And when I give myself the space to breathe,
I return stronger… every single time.
