"The Climb Back"

I woke in the hush where the silence screams,
A life once lived in haunted dreams.

Shadows curled round every breath,
A dance too close with grief and death.

The bottle whispered lullabies,
The needle sang of fleeting skies,

But morning always pulled me down—
A wreckage wearing yesterday’s crown.

But one faint spark can light the way,
A trembling hand that dares to pray.

One tear can cleanse the poisoned past,
A step, though small, can hold me fast.

Each day, a war of will and flame,
Each breath, a chance to choose my name.

I learn to walk on broken stone,
But find, somehow,
I’m not alone.

The weight is real- but so am I,
And I no longer need to fly

To flee the pain
I used to drown—
I build a life,
I stand my ground.

Scars do not mean
that I am weak,
They show the battles
I don’t speak.

And though the night may still appear,
The dawn now finds me crystal clear.

I’m not who I was—
I’m something more,
A soul that crawled up
from the floor.

Recovery,
not just a word—
It’s every truth
I ever heard.
