The Constant

Change, in addiction, it's one of the things we fear, greatly. It may be our greatest fear. Its the most irrational fear we hold on to. Change is inevitable, it happens whether we want it to or not. We are not the same today in this moment as we were yesterday, and tomorrow we will be different than we are today. Our experiences change us.
I hear a lot of people in early recovery say "I just want to be that person I was before my addiction." Sadly, that's impossible because of the experiences we had, we will never be the same, in recovery we will be better, the best versions of ourselves. Change, do not fear it embrace it, accept it without fear, without exceptions. Change going to happen.
When I realized this I started to find peace and serenity in my personal recovery journey. I now fully accept change with an open mind and willing heart. I now understand what living life on life's terms truly means. Living a life free from the fear of inevitability.
