The difference that a year can make

This time last year I was a homeless junkie that traded it all for the next fix of fentanyl. About four years ago I experienced two terrible losses of some people the closest to me and I really went off the deep end. I overdosed and was saved more times than I can count. I was caught up in a drug raid and I was on probation and the choice was simple go to rehab or prison. So I happily chose treatment. The first thing I noticed when I got there is that everyone treated me like family and I was completely comfortable around them. I made a choice to give 100% to the program and if it didn’t work at least I tried. The funny thing about giving 100% is you leave no room for failure. I got into a sober living home and got a very good job, a nice car and now a nice place. My kids are all so proud of me and today my life has meaning. Talking to my son today he told me dad I can’t believe it I got everything on my Christmas list! What a feeling. If you’re struggling and you don’t think you can do it. You can! Ask for help go to a meeting talk about it. Save yourself before it’s too late. Thanks to everyone that helped me on this journey I can never repay you what I owe you but I will pay it forward.

Congrats on your time and thank you for sharing. Keep up the good work

Sounds great

Thanks for sharing your journey, courage, strength and hope!
For me sobriety is the easier softer way. Using, lying, doing time and dying is much harder.
Paying it forward with service is the best high I ever had.
Keep on being a good person. We need as many as we can get👊

Where the sobriety feels small and the mess feels huge but we're still here. Sober for another 24! That’s the only win that matters right now. Just take it one hour at a time today, Eric.
