“The doctrine of powerlessness is not a good thing - it is a very bad thing that has caused a lot of people to fail to get sober or stay sober. Teaching people that they are powerless over alcohol gives them a ready-made excuse for failure, and it becomes a self-fulfilling prediction.” -Orange

Did you just quote a fruit?

A man, thanks.

Interesting. I’d say I don’t really feel “powerless” until AFTER the first drink. That’s how I’ve grown to interpret those kinds of sayings. My power rests between the inclination & the action. No one can touch me there. But, sure, I don’t like “giving away” my power either. Sometimes I can get lost in the language of things a bit but I just remind myself that this entire process is built on INTENTION, not semantics. Words are just symbols. Wishing you well on your journey.
