When the kids ask me about my sobriety I give it to them as straight as possible without the horror stories of who I was. I remind them that there are people in their lives that may hold onto someone who no longer comes close to who I am today.
I tell them that I found something that connects me to the universe.
I explain in many ways about the subject of God or higher power. I choose God because my spirituality is connected through the people who have given me a second chance not to just live life but be a part of it.
I share pictures of my children because many of us have kids and I had a paralyzing fear to explain what happen d what it was like and where I am today.
I am a spiritual being having a human experience.
