The hardest thing about sobriety to me is literally my physical appearance
I get how you feel. I was once 310, dropped to 173 in six weeks. I looked horrible. That was almost 20 years ago, and I've come a long way since then. I'm up to 250 and still all I see is the changes my body went through. I don't see the fat kid u was unhappy as, or the skinny sick person I was, and I don't see myself as I am. What I see is every mark my past has left. It takes time but I have learned to see it all as a monument to all I have become. You can get to a place if being content in your own skin. Promise
I really struggle with being around people now that I’m sober. I used alcohol as a crutch to not worry about how I was perceived by others and that’s something that has always been hard for me. I focus too much on what I think people think about me - it’s a vicious cycle.
Be kind to yourself! One thing I say to myself that I learned in a meeting is “people who judge don’t matter and people who matter don’t judge”
Be kind to you! Getting sober is a great thing. You've helped yourself so much physically. Love yourself.
None of our business what people think.has for as looks it may all take time.
For me the solitude. I made my own bed, now I have to live with it. I used for 30 years, every relationship I had revolves around it. At 50 it’s hard to start over.
Acceptance equals gratitude , make a list of things about urself that r positive !
