The housing crisis post covid is just making me want

the housing crisis post covid is just making me want to give up on life legitimately. what’s the point? i’m about to be homeless. i wasn’t homeless when i was using. now i get sober and can’t even have a home. i have no family or friends to live with either so don’t mention it. i’m so done. i just am fine with dying if i can’t find somewhere to live.

The funny thing about it all is that boomers, for YEARS told us that "if you don't like it here, go get another job" and now that kids are actually saying "fück this place" and going to get get other jobs like they have been told to do, the white sneaker crowd is in an uproar. "I can't get mah gotdang cheeseburgers from the mega-lo mart anymore, gotdang kids "

FINALLY a thing we can agree on!! for fckin real. i think we’d probably be good friends low key lm@o

I’m in St Pete where housing is insane; just got hit with a 10% rent increase for next year. Remote work may be our best bet; I’m trying to be fully virtual.

If you are willing to be vaccinated and can pass a drug/background screening you can get a job as a resident assistant at a senior living facility. I work in that industry and we are hiring for every position at every level. Server. Dishwasher. You could probably even get them to pay for you to become a CNA (certified nurse assistant)

i’d love to work at a place like that. but would they not allow me for having what is (basically) suboxone in my system? it’s a prescription obviously

Out of curiosity, have you applied? I hire a lot of people and never once has a candidate been ineligible due to legitimate prescription medications.

In senior living generally theft and violence convictions are non negotiable but everything else is a conversation.

not yet i’d have to find one to apply to that’s hiring

As an industry we are about 30% understaffed. You’d be hard pressed to find a senior living company that is not hiring.

Message me if you’d like more specific info.
