The insanity of this disease is unlike any other. I wouldn't wish it on my worst enemy!
We’re both fighting this disease together
For some, the belief is the key is to stop fighting it. The thought is one needs to accept it, and get help. This means admitting that it’s kicked your a$s, and that you surrender. While that sounds horrific, if you look around you will see that there others that were just like you, and now they have recovery. If you listen to their stories, you may start to think that if they can do it then you can do it. Start hanging out with those people (meetings), and become willing to do whatever they are doing that’s working for them. For these people, they have been beaten down badly enough, that they are willing to try another way. This may sound difficult. However, fighting this disease is difficult! Many believe you don’t beat it, rather you learn to live with it. Of course I’m talking about AA/NA. There are other programs too. I’m not as familiar with those, but it seems to me that people just like us who follow these programs often have much greater success than those that don’t. Either way, I hope you find something that works for you
