The man I was going to marry and have kids

The man I was going to marry and have kids with broke up with me 8 months ago due to my alcohol abuse. It caused me to hit rock bottom which in turn caused me to get sober 8 months ago. Although I’m grateful to be sober, I can’t help but think that I ruined my one chance at true love. I’m praying God has someone out there for me.:pensive:

Not the time to be worried about that. You are doing amazing work for yourself. Focus on that and let the rest fall into place.

Don’t go looking for love meja. It will find you! :call_me_hand:t3::sunglasses:

Have faith that the universe has a plan for you. Although these negative thoughts naturally creep into your thinking, at 8 months clean and sober, its a good time to keep reinforcing more positive thinking and trusting in “something bigger than a human” that will take care of things

You didn't! I promise but it's tough. I lost my husband because of it so just think...at least you don't have to worry about that if you keep at it. It's a much better lifestyle too. Bug hugs 🫂 from me to you girl please hang in there!!

I’m 15 years sober and going through a divorce so I feel your pain but we need to focus on the thing we have control over and live in the day.

I’ve been single since 2012, and I honestly think I will be for the rest of my life. A lot of that probably has to do with booze but I know at least now I’m sober.

We left to our own devices would keep doing the same things. Do not limit yourself to your own thought

Just work on your sobriety for you and if it shows how you really want it people who want to be in your life will come back. Just stay strong

Alanna! First off congrats on 8 months of sobriety and hard work! I was married for 16 years and lost it all. I dated in early sobriety because I was trying to fill a God size hole with women. I ended up having three relationships but I wasn’t healed. It caused more wreckage. I took a year off of dating and looked inward. This has helped me see what my ideals are. In AA we have no opinion on one’s six life. We ask God to shape our ideals and to help us live up to them. I’ve been told to write down my ideals list. I haven’t done this yet. I’m still working on me. I need to learn patience. Remember you’re not alone in this matter. Thank you for sharing this. I’ll continue to pray for your healing.

Sometimes I get frustrated and sad about things I don’t have, or had and lost. I’ve trained myself to switch gears and immediately turn those feelings into gratitude for all the blessings I do have.

You’re working on you these days. You’re stock is on the rise. When the time is right you will not be in a position of sadness or regret. Someone will meet you where you are and you’ll inspire each other to grow together. There’s no rush.

I can relate. I divorced my husband due to his addiction. I wanted kids so bad. Now I’m wondering if that will ever happen for me.

Sometimes God blocks things / events that come in our way to point us to the direction he wants us to go. He turns graves into gardens. Congratulations on your continued sobriety. :cherry_blossom:

Somewhere out there is a man who is going to be very lucky to share love with you some day. For now love yourself for how far you’ve come and how you’ve grown.
