The pastor at our church is a strawberry farmer. His family has had a big strawberry farm on edge of town for like forever. One Sunday he was talking about how the new plants wanted to blossom in their first year. If they do that, they don’t grow to their full potential and produce good fruit. They would need to pick the blossoms, so that the plant could just focus on getting strong and growing itself early. Then when it was ready it would produce the best fruit. I thought this was the perfect analogy for our recovery. We need to be patient. Focus on ourselves, then we can produce beautiful fruit for others.

Great analogy. I used to hear it said in the rooms. “If you’re new to recovery, just be new.”

So now you’re calling my new a fruit! Actually, that would be the nicest thing someone has said to me in a long time lol. On a more serious note, it’s a great analogy.
