The “Sober” Label

I’m done with alcohol but things like CBD and other non-hard substances I don’t know about. I think of being sober as relative to a specific substance. Is anyone else in a similar boat? When do you decide to start using the label “Sober”?

I wouldn't call CBD a substance that you should even worry about.

For me being "sober" and "clean" go hand in hand. Heroin/Dilaudid use were always a chaser for my drinking. I never did those things without drinking first or during. Drinking makes me blow off the thought of the consequences for my actions. Some people in AA are sticklers about nomenclature, but really, who gives a shït?

Bill W tripped the light fantastic man. True story. He did acid and still died sober. It is what your thing was that you did in a compulsive manner that became a hindrance to your progress as a non destructive human and to self and other humans around whatever the behavior is. If leaving the toilet seat up and you and others kept getting a wet behind you may be a redneck ... Or want to take a look at that behavior in general.. to heck with labels look at behaviors and what they do for you and those around you.

Dear Shane,
Only a person like myself that has an addictive brain would be concerned about CBD…so in my case i do not use mind altering substances ever! Addiction is a ruthless killer…why give it any opportunity to end you? With kindness and respect..Keith Kayle

For me, i use the label "sober" in reference to alcohol. Alcohol was the root of all my evils. Cbd, thc flowers or edibles and mushrooms (supplements) aren't of concern for me. I'd only be concerned with illicit substances as those seem to have played a huge role during my heavy drinking. It's obviously different for everyone and how they define "sober".
