The wayward children

What do you do when recovery has given you everything you ever dreamed of except the relationship with the children who mean the world?

As the child of an alcoholic and absent father, I knew better. Yet I followed in his footsteps. Now, three years sober, I help others with their own addictions (counselor) yet, every blessing is muted in shades of grey because the tiny humans that hold my heart look on from a distance.

Any advice out there?…

This is such a delicate matter...all you really can do is pray for them to come around one day and have patience. This is something that obviously cannot be forced.
This is a walking amends situation.
My two older boys were not in my life for several yrs. It was the most heartbreaking time in my life, but I knew if I didn't keep doing the next right thing I may never see them again!
My family is whole today and we've all done a lot of hard work on our relationships but we came together and made it happen! These are the things that the promises talk about! Just be patient...sometimes quickly, sometimes slowly...and always in God's time. Much love and prayers Brother!! I know what that is like! :pray::white_heart:

I’ve not experienced this but I know people who have. They prayed for their kids and turned everything over to their higher power. That last one was continuous. I wish you the best of luck. :two_hearts:

Thank you so much for sharing, Sandy and my heart goes out to you knowing you’ve been through this fire. Your words remind me of the truth I know yet pain blurs.

Thankful for you again. :pray:t4::white_heart:
