Things I’m glad I did in early sobriety

  1. I deleted numbers from my phone, anyone who would potentially stand in the way of my recovery. Dealers, drinking friends, etc.

  2. Filled my favorites list on my phone with my sober contacts, people who are good for my sobriety. If I’m ever having an urge or in a potentially harmful situation, I call numbers until someone answers.

  3. I allowed myself to be teachable.

Awesome, Brad!

Love each of these-and writing down number 3 in my notebook…you phrased this well!

Nice share Brad :raised_hands:t3::pray:t3:

Number 1 always, delete the past. Biggest mistake newcomers make, keeping numbers…reservations.

I love this because I did the same thing. Stopped seeing family too because they are alcoholics and it’s all about the drinking no matter what function. They don’t understand recovery and that I should “just not drink”, yah ok so at a family party will I sit with the few non drinkers, no, I will be watching and craving the drinks so don’t go. I deleted all my so called old friends also. You gotta do what you gotta do to stay in sobriety. Found out last week that the nephew that stopped speaking to me since I stopped drinking is now in serious trouble and drinks constantly. I wish I could help but won’t stop and even with an intervention just kept saying “I know”. He parents both died from alcoholism. I am praying someday he will let me back in but not my fight. I am 35 months Sunday and not going to be trigger by his disease
