I’ve been thinking about a couple of things that are helpful for me.
1st is I have to pay for health . Whether I’m paying to be healthy or unhealthy I’m paying . I pay with my time and money . Yes finding free things is super helpful and helps me save money . But if I’m willing to pay for alcohol everyday , multiple times a day why am I not willing to pay for health ?. Vitamins , therapy , classes , ect. Most likely I have the money if I had it for alcohol or whatever else I used. I think changing my mindset to where I put my dollar is helpful in my recovery . If I was paying to be unhealthy and I want to be healthy now I should pay to be healthy . I think that’s a huge part is actually investing in my healthy self . It’s worth it to pay for health and I am worth it .
2nd wanting to quit with out actually doing the work isn’t going to help . Many times before I would say I want to quit but I wouldn’t do anything. I would make a goal or a promise I couldn’t keep . The biggest things that are helping me now is being apart of sober communities , taking classes , therapy , healthy alternatives to feeling good and not hanging out with the people that cause my relapses even if it’s family . Putting in the work and making big changes has helped me .
