I've been reading the Book of Joy (basically a written convo between the Dalai Lama and Desmod Tutu--highly recommend, btw), and regular gratitude practice is so important to cultivating joy in one's life. Our brains are wired to pay attention to our struggles and pain (which has helped keep us and our ancestors alive), but we easily forget to take the whole picture of our life into account. My cravings so often stem from a feeling that I don't have enough, that I don't have what I need, that I need... something, anything to get me through the day. But gratitude practice reminds me just how full my life is. I have everything I need. Right here. Right now. So today, I'm grateful for this app's little daily gratitude reminder. What a gift!

Great point. Dalai Lama also suggest being of service often to keep us right sized.
