This is a long one. So I will try and be as short and sweet as possible. I have a history of being an awesome worker. I'm not bragging, for I honestly always think I could do so much more at every job, (kind of bragging but hear me out)
I am the kind of restaurant worker who cleans hoods when needed, cleans grills top to bottom, cleans behind grills, under tables, cleans out set station, cleans literally EVERYTHING. Tried to prep everything too if I knew the next shift would need it. At my old job, (Smash burger) we had an awesome boss who held everyone accountable for helping clean, prep, getting prepared for the next shift. So that is what I'm used to. I'm used to even if I didn't get something done one day, I would come in the next, and it would be done. Because the boss there cared and actually kept everyone working.
Now to my new job (sigh) (HUGE SIGH)
My dad is the owner. And things are......SHITTY to say the least. No manager, everyone gets to do what they want, and no one is finishing or even working at there job. If they put meats away, they put it outside the fridge, and wait for someone else to get it. I'm the ONLY ONE that cleans and people know this and say "ah she will get it!" I pulled back the grills when I first got there, and there was literally......LITERALLY 5 inches of grease built up against the wall. The broiler had a good 3 inches in it's "grease trap" (should be cleaned every night, looks like it wasnt cleaned in a year)
I am the lowest paid cook, let alone the lowest paid kitchen employee in the kitchen even though I'm the owners daughter. And I do EVERYTHING. Something isn't cleaned they blame me. They run out of something they blame me. Something isn't done they blame me. Then they stand around complaining.
I felt that I was unappreciated and felt I was the only one actually working (you would have people standing around and get mad that I asked them to help) so I put in my two weeks today. Now to understand, my dad pays my phone (which I never asked, I was grateful, but was willing to pay for my own phone) and my car broke down so he let me use his car.
When I put in my 2 weeks he starts by saying "well since your not working for me I think it's unfair that I have to pay your phone bill" which whatever I'm not upset about THAT I'm upset with how petty he's being. (Side note:) I also quit because my job is a 45 minute drive from where I live. He then said what are you going to do about a car? I told him I'll take my uncle pats station wagon he offered me, since he did a good amount of work on it, and it's dependable. (Single mom, needs a reliable car)
And he said, yeah I'm NOT going to let you use my car since you're quitting!
Like WTF kind of father is this??? I understand he's angry, but he should be happy with whatever I choose, ESPECIALLY if I choose not to be taken advantage of.
You're wondering why this has to do with Loosid. I am an alcoholic who was going to quit with this new job. This new job is full of alcoholic's and lazy workers.
So I'm I have to ask. Am I wrong? Should I stay and just deal with it? Or should I do what I think it's right and get away from a toxic father and workplace?
