This is the day of starting over
To say goodbye to the past with grace and composure
Only leaving the joy and tranquility where they remain
It’s important to recognize the beauty and purpose they contain
Like a beautiful jewel hanging on a delicate gold chain
There will be pain that is often inevitable at times feeling almost uncontrollable
Calm will come too, filling the wounds
Just as Mary Poppins sugar filled spoons
There is a balance to this madness they say
Like the tides pulling in and out from the ocean bay
I look up and down to try and find this calamity they talk of
Feeling so defeated I hit my knees and look above
To God I search for the constant changing answer in the fight for my life
I stand for the battlefield and maybe at first only in spite
As times go by and lessons are learned
The gold badge I wear that sparkles with pride has been well earned
This is only a few steps towards where I need to go
But there will never be that blue box topped with a perfect bow
There will be bumps and bruises and Humpty Dumpty falls
But when the sun starts to shine, and you can see the butterflies fly by
The battle of recovery continues to be worth it all
