Thoughts: I heard a sponsor tell a new comer he can’t sponsor him because he’s prescribed stimulants (adderall/vyvanse) from his therapist or psychiatrist. Is this an AA thing? Or personal?
IMO (and it’s really just my opinion) following drs orders falls under medical care and not necessarily someone recovery from the alcohol problem- which is all AA is concerned w. Obviously spiritual growth etc- but wanting to quit drinking is the only requirement and not the “outside” issues. Maybe that person isn’t right for him. Hopefully that doesn’t turn the new person away from finding someone new. I personally don’t discuss my prescriptions w my sponsor EVER unless I think I’m going to abuse them in some way and it’s more an FYI to show my spiritual slack program not to ask her to talk me how to take my meds
Sounds more like a personal thing. The guy with time in might have sensed he wasn’t the right fit for the newcomer as a sponsor. Any in my opinion that’s better than putting in a half a*# attempt at sponsoring some one.
It’s a personal thing.
