Thoughts on naltrexone? I’m interested in people’s experiences with the

Thank you all for the suggestions and feedback! I just started on it, finally got into see a specialist, hooked up with both AA and a therapist now… my first day on it I felt like “there is no way I could function in society while taking this drug” but now that I’m a few days sober the side effects have lessened and my cravings aren’t there, only getting some mild dizziness now. I’m so grateful for it, I have a ton of mental work to do but it’s so nice not to have the obsessive cravings come in at 4pm…

I have like NO desire to pick up a drink when I take it, it’s like an aversion, so that’s good I guess!

Speaking for myself only I’d be very careful not to feel “cured” do to the lack of cravings. My brain would use that as a reason to stop AA and eventually I’d go back out there.

Don’t wanna put a bad light on it. It’s a great step and congrats!!

I tried naltrexone and didn’t work so currently on Antabuse.. it’s working great

I drank, a lot, while taking the pill. Didn't really curb the cravings. The shot totally worked. I missed an appointment to get it and relapsed within a few days, it totally helped with cravings.

Believe me, I don’t feel “cured” after 3 days. But thanks!
