Thoughts on Rehab

Come to terms that I need more structured help. I need to get away (if possible) and focus on ME. I have a 11 yr old son and i’ve been his main support and he is my main responsibility. I HATE even thinking of taking more than 2 days away from him but I NEED TO BE BETTER FOR US. THE TIME IS NOW. Inpatient would be ideal but not yet a confirmed option. Looking into all of them. Anyone been here before? What’s worked for you and what’s some advice you can offer? First time rehabber and LAST. I can and WILL FIGHT FOR MY LIFE TO GET BACK THE BADA** Bi*** I always been and know still lives inside me. SHES ready to let this DISEASE know WHO RUNS THINGS ROUND’ here. Time to do work. Would love to hear from any of you. :purple_heart::raised_hands:t3:

I have relapsed so many times but each time has been a progression and that is key to getting beyond anything.
One bit at a time and one time there is a bit of comfort that you give yourself….just because you allowed it…just a bit of comfort.
That is what I wish to share!

This is my second time in treatment. The first time I went I treated it like a vacation and was ready to focus on myself. I relapsed 4 months later. This time I'm doing everything suggested. It's still really hard but it's so worth it. I can't go out again. Coming back to treatment was the best decision I've ever made.

If you feel you need the help I say more power to you! Whatever we need to do to put our sobriety first.

Is there anyone you can go see for just a weekend, someone that knows and understands you just need to chill and reset? A while back I did that. Couldn't be away from kids for long. Or any other responsibilities, so I just took a quick trip up to jersey and tried to reset.

I'm a first timer with a 13 yr old son that I had go live with his ain't til I'm capable of being sober for him and myself.. it wasn't an easy decision to go into treatment, but it's been the best decision I've ever made. I now know I can live addiction free and b the parent he deserves.

Nope. That won’t do anything for me. I HAVE TO FACE A LOT and 2 weekend days most DEF won’t fix or work with me having 22 years of emotional numbness. :exploding_head:🫣

Hi Sarah, don’t let anyone tell you that relapse has to be part of your story. I went to rehab for my first attempt at sobriety 3.5 years ago after realizing that I needed to get sober for my then 7 year old daughter. My moment of clarity was seeing her sitting under the kitchen table crying while her mother and I were in a drunken argument. I call the rehab the next morning and left for 30 days. I hated not seeing my kid for that long, but I knew I had to get sober and get it right on my first try. My daughter is worth every bit of pain I went through, and the rewards of being sober and having an amazing daddy daughter bond are more than I ever expected. We have traveled and done so many cool things in the past few years that I never could have done while in active alcoholism. This morning we ran a 5K… on a Sunday at 8:00am :exploding_head:. You can get sober and stay sober first try as long as you are willing to acknowledge that your son is more important than any future selfish wants. I’m rooting for you!!

Dang I hope you find what you need. And mire importantly, what you want. :disappointed:

Absolutely!!! He motivates me to be better and I won’t accept failing him. We have very similar thought processes. I don’t want him ever seeing me sleep my life away for almost a week straight. Neglecting all responsibilities as a mother and myself. Thank you for the positive vibes!! Going friday morning! :raised_hands:t3:
