I have long-term sobriety. I'm forever grateful for that. I'm not really just, so I don't use that as part of my recovery. I know it's hard for a lot of people, especially when you're first newly sober.
We all have our bottoms to hit, and mine was bad, but perhaps not as bad as other people's bottom.
I feel truly lucky that I never went to jail, never had a DUI, never had an arrest. My drugs of choice were cocaine, and alcohol.
I definitely had to use the suggestion of cocaine anonymous that says something to the effect of find new playmates, and new playgrounds.
I found new friends in the rooms for recovery.
I haven't been to a meeting in a long time, I don't feel like I've had to. I suppose I have to check in, occasionally.
I still haven't had alcohol
or cocaine, or any other dangerous drugs. I feel fortunate that I never killed anybody with a car, or killed myself with dope and booze.
My sobriety birthday is October 3rd, 2005.
