Open for discussion! I’d love the feedback. Shouldn’t any amount of sobriety matter? Whether it’s 5 hours, 2 days, 9 months, 2 years or 40 years?
What makes more time of sobriety better than any amount of sobriety?
Absolutely. It’s the desire to stop that matters most. The longer you go the better but any amount when we’re use to drinking or using on the daily counts as something to be proud of. I’m only 3 weeks sober but compared to what I used to do and how much every day I’m very proud of myself. I even came close to slipping on multiple occasions but I still made it out without it.
Thanks for sharing Brandon! 3 weeks is something to be more than proud of.
All it takes is today, that’s all we can give.
That’s it right there
I’ll take quality of time over quantity of time. Just as age is just a number, so is length of sobriety. There are some “common traits” of someone with long term sobriety vs someone just getting sober, just as there are common traits of a 50 year old vs a 20 year old. However, there is no true norm. You can be happy at day 2 of sobriety and miserable at 20 years of sobriety. I know several 50 year olds that are in better shape today than when they were in their 20’s. Idk if this analogy makes any sense, but it sure sounded good a few minutes ago
.
The amount of time doesn't matter, if you're living for each day, one at a time. Like walking, one day or foot follows the other.
Hahahaha! I appreciate it… But the more I kept reading, my mind took me to “ok, where the heck is this guy getting at?!”. lol Your first half was better.
But thank you.
I agree! Live in the now. Live in today! Not the past and not the future. That’s where problems come into play. Focus on today and we’ll all be alright!
When you get to be my age…oh forget it I just lost my train of thought
Oh my goodness!

(apparently O M G isn’t allowed?!)
Lol… it made perfect sense to me man!
Your sobriety is your own. You don’t need to compare it to anyone or anything. Some ppl count days. Some choose different metrics. Make the most of the time you’ve got. As long as you put your sobriety front and center, whatever that means for you, you’ll be happy joyous and free
Thanks! And I agree. I don’t compare mine to anyone else’s. I just think it’s junk that people will judge you’re sobriety off of how long you have or don’t have.
It’s not cool. Oh well! Keep showing up for ourselves and that’s all we can do.
What other people think is their problem. ❤️🩹❤️🩹
Everybody’s battle is different. The desire to stay sober is what’s matters and what will keep us strong!
I am just 8 days sober. Honestly I’m trying to not keep track of the days. Instead I’m just paying attention to the difference in how I feel each day without drinking.
Lol
Every minute, hours, days, and years is a successful day. Every day clean and sober matters. Get some time you worked hard for and see how it feels for someone to tell you it doesn’t matter.
Keep Coming Back
Thank you! I agree
Love that! And good for you! It is pretty great how we feel the next day without drinking the day before. It truly is 24 hours at a time
