I’ve been alcohol free for around 11 weeks now and that’s great. I can and have turned it down before. I need to sort out my pot use though, and it’s pretty f*ckin difficult when all most of my peers want to do is get high and drunk. I’d appreciate some friends I don’t feel like I have to do drugs with, you know? They aren’t even real friendships, I find most of the time they just use you for sh!t or are always too sauced up to want to do anything, or make it all about how you can’t ruin their high or you’re a huge a$$höle. And that sucks, whether I’m high or not. I can’t hang out with someone without them insisting that we get stoned and I still have a hard time saying no to weed. I want to go out TO not smoke. I want to be able to spend like a full day with someone without smoking at all.
That is a wonderful goal! 11 weeks is amazing man, don’t discount it. Have you been to any in person meetings? The fellowship and friendship you can find there may be what you are looking for. We all have lost “friends” when we got sober. The advise I got from my sponsor early in my journey was “ don’t be where you don’t need to be”. If the people around you are only drinking and drugging, you don’t need to be there. Good luck bud. It gets easier, I promise.
I would be your friend, but compared to you I’m probably an “old head” either way you gotta stay away from those types of friends that want to drink and use. They only want something out of you. Time, money, etc. misery loves company and drinking/drugging is misery as we all well know. Hit some local meetings and get some numbers, make some friends on here to talk to when you got nobody else to turn to. Get a sponsor and a homegroup, do the steps and here’s the important part be completely honest at all times, about how you’re doing how you’re feeling what you’re thinking etc. Like I said I’ll be you’re friend even though my oldest son is older than you reach out any time you feel you need help or guidance and I’ll do what I can. Best of luck my friend. I hope you find what you’re looking for.
Glad you recognize that at such a young age. There is so much life ahead of you.
