To be alive

I gave birth recently. It was the most traumatic experience of my life. Until a couple days ago, I couldn't talk about it because all I could do was cry.

It was life or death for my baby and me. Her heart rate continued to drop to 80 each time I had a contraction, and the cord was wrapped around her twice.

So after 12 hours of labor I had to have a C-section. I threw up during the process, my baby wasn't breathing when she entered the world (she had a bowel movement during the process, and swallowed it), my oxygen levels were dropping, I had to depend on my husband to keep the oxygen mask on my face.

I was extremely close to getting a blood transfusion because of the amount of blood I lost. Grateful my husband, and nephew prayed for me. Getting stitches and staples the same day isn't fun.

One of the most important days of my life quickly became terrifying. My husband could have ended up planning a funeral for our baby and/or me.

I'm glad Jesus was in the room, and He had other plans. We're here because of Him.

Wow Amanda! That is quite a scary story…with a beautiful ending! Congrats to you and your hubby on the birth of your baby girl. To be alive!!! Thank you for sharing, and reminding us all of how precious life is :peace_symbol::pray:

Thank you.

I am very happy to hear everything came out alright. I know how you and your husband feels. Our third child was footling breach. Had my wife’s water broke, it would have been an amniotic embolism. And both the baby and her would have died. Hug that family tighter tonight and congratulations on the new baby!

I'm thankful for life more now than I was before.

Thank you, Tim.

Those amniotic embolisms are no joke. I know of another lady who survived one. Bringing life into this world is so beautiful and scary at the same time. Throughout my pregnancy I had to tell myself "God made my body for this" to put a stop to the fear.

I'm grateful your wife and child are here.

Thank you. I spent time talking to God; and he helped me. My husband has given me extra hugs; validated my feelings, and tell me how strong I am.

Thank you. I appreciate your words so much. God is good.
