To many times in life we focus on the negative rather than seeing all the beauty that's in front of us. I sure the F*** did.. Today I'm 38, sober, clean, had a job to go to, transportation to get there, but most of all I have my daughter. She is my world. This kid literally brightens my day. I live for her and do everything possible just so she can have a better life. The struggles of not having a supportive parent in their life she will never know. I am her biggest cheerleader and she's definitely my coach. Shes the mature one out of us. Ten going on forty..lol I call her my "little old lady" mostly but there is always a "facia bella" said. She is the most unique, kind, gentle, smart, caring, thoughtful, GOOD, and thee most beautiful person I have her met. She makes me want to be a better person everyday. Which is why I'm so hard on myself.. I have no room for failure and can't afford for s**t to go wrong. I'm all she has and I can't allow my ego, pride, feelings, emotions, career, or anything else that will take time from her, to get in my way. I know I need to start living for myself but how selfish does that sound. My parents did that and neglected me to the point I figured everything out alone and on myself. I can't do that for her. Which is why I am going to change my attitude in life. Bounce out of this negative state of mind and start actually taking the time to find the positive in each situation I face. There's always good to be found you just have to look a little harder sometimes..OWN THE DAY AND DONT LET IT OWN YOU..
Love this! I got sober for my daughter 3.5 years ago when she was 7. I don’t subscribe to organized religion or believe in a god, but I do have a higher power… the love I have for that little girl. Over the past 3.5 years we have traveled and done so many cool things that I never could have done with her while drinking. She’s my best friend and probably teaches me more about life than I teach her. I made a promise to her and myself when I went to rehab that as long as she is alive, I will never have another drink or take another drug, and I aim to keep that promise. I truly believe that the only thing a person needs to stay sober is love for someone or something that is greater than their selfish desire to feel the way their drug of choice temporarily makes them feel. I’m routing for you bud, and if you keep up the mentality you shared in your post, I’m confident you will be successful. From one girl dad to another, I appreciate you!
Thanks ALOT. I am a single parent with sole custody. It's tough at times but very rewarding. What I mean by tough is, I have to play both parents to a little girl and that as you know is a hard thing as a man. We are programmed to hide our feelings, emotions, and be strong. With a little girls it's sooooo different. Lol we have to be soft, kind, CARING, no vulgar, and be the man we want our little girl to be with later on. Her knight in shining armor, a true gentleman. Failure is not an option because her life and future is on the line. That's something I will not play with. Cheers to you man for understanding and thanks for your comment. That's what I was looking for..
