Today I am grateful for the newcomer. Who initially I was taking to his first 12 step meeting. A meeting that was outside of my norm of the meetings that I regularly attend, and very new to me.
Which had me standing outside anxious and filled with a little bit of uncomfortable.
Which after 6 + years sober and clean may seem a little strange to some. I also figured to some may even be relatable.
Instead of walking away like my uncomfortability told me I should. It was the newcomer strength to still want to go in, that strengthen me to follow him through those doors. That led to us being in a room with only two other men that had a total of 80 years sober and clean.
So do those who have come before me and all you newcomers. Today I am humbly grateful for all of you who have chosen the path of redemption and who have not only given yourselves, but all of those whose path you cross a better chance at life.
On a more personal level. Giving this guy the courage and strength to continue to move through the uncomfortable place called my mind, and instead lead with and follow my heart. "WE DO RECOVER"
