Today I’m feeling pretty okay. I’m moving back to Georgia (thankfully not my home town). I lived in Georgia my whole life and I’ve been in florida for the past three weeks. I’m so ready to come home but it’s like the closer and closer I get to coming home, my cravings are getting stronger and stronger. What do I do
Fight! I have found that I get nervous every time I return to a place where I used to party at. I could be going to a house, business, an event or even a neighborhood. I worry I will not be strong enough to resist using but I go (I had to come up w a strategy on how to make it out sober) and afterwards I am really proud of myself. Hang in there.
My daughter just moved to Georgia. She goes to Emory law school. I can’t wait to check out Atlanta!
Praying for you
Good luck. Hope all works out.
I wish it was that easy!!!! The only place I’m able to stay at is either a sober living which is so costly or with a really good friend of mine who will hold me accountable. And I will be so far from my family and I need them during this time. I can’t do it alone.
Thank you so much!! That makes me feel a lot better just getting those nervous feelings but I know I’m strong and I know I can do this!! Thank you so much and have a blessed day
Good morning Frankie. when I first got into recovery everybody told me to change people places and things. I understand that you’re going back to your home because you miss it. But just be careful of people places and things. The first thing you should do when you get settled is go to a meeting. And let everybody know how you’re feeling about being back. I am pretty sure that people there will help you. That’s what this program is all about helping each other stay sober and clean. So that’s what my recommendation is.
Prayers sent for strength
Good morning Frankie, how the urges/cravings were removed from my mind and body was very simple, I’ve completely given myself to steps 1, 2 and 3. AA has helped me so much. I needed a severe personality change. My way thinking wasn’t getting me anywhere good in life.
Now I’m doing well. I still struggle with mental fog from time to time but with a new outlook on life and new tools to help cope with depression and anxiety I can get through my days with an attitude of gratitude.
Stay busy with chores and work. Work a program and your life will transform into a life you’ve never dreamed of.
Find a meeting, have faith!
I got clean in my hometown. Wherever you go, there you are. Go to regular meetings. Everyday. More than one everyday if you get urges. Get numbers of women in the program. Stay away from people not involved in recovery. Read the literature and journal. I was worried about it too, and came back to live where I first started using. I'm over a year clean! Just surround yourself with recovery!
