I physically feel better than I did yesterday, but I’m having urges. I’m finally off of work and drinking is usually my go to afterwards. Thinking about buying a plant instead.
How do you manage your urges?

Meetings. Getting plugged and finding someone close by that you can talk things thru. Have you tried reaching out in meetings in your area yet? Fellowshipping is a huge part of sobriety. Surrounding yourself with like minded folk. Preferably other ladies.
I wouldn’t mind joining something online where I can stay anonymous. I have the DrinkersHelper app but the group I’m with isn’t very active.
Zoom meetings. Can just sit and listen and not appear
That, I can do.
Listen to podcasts. I put them on while I’m cooking cleaning In the shower or whenever. It’s easy all u have to do is listen. I know this isn’t for everyone but it helps me
Meetings, I don’t use between meetings , I call someone from the program whether I’m having a good day or a bad day. The steps and program will work through me if I try.
Hey congrats on
days.
Urges.... Stay as busy as possible. Keep your circle as small as possible so you can be held accountable as far as using. Ive been on and off the wagon since I was 15 or so. This is the first time Ive gotten sober on purpose. And it's the only time it has stuck. I wish you the best in your recovery. Truly from the bottom of my heart.
What kind of podcasts do you listen to?
I’ll be brave enough to do that one day.
Congrats! I think staying busy is a great option. I’m definitely trying to do that.
I understand. Took me a long time to commit to a program and be vulnerable. After treatment my VA therapist recommended that I not only go to 90 meeting in 90 days but that I share at every meeting even if it meant only showing gratitude for the people in the room. By the 40th day or so I felt more comfortable.
Found friends in the program and started sharing what I felt comfortable with, found a good sponsor after the third try.
Started accepting suggestions. Even though my emotions are still pretty raw I’m living my best life at 42.
I even started chairing a meeting in my area. It’s been good for me. We all have to do it in our own time. Addicts are resourceful survivors. We can accomplish anything if we have the desire.
You’re worth it. We all are.
Much Love. Be well.
