Today is my Second day home from treatment and I’m already getting triggered by what surrounds me in my home town. I feel like moving would keep me safe but I’m no where near ready to leave my parents or financially stable enough to move in general. How do I ignore the triggers until I’m ready!?!
I've been in treatment several times and in recovery for 1, 3, 5 years at a time. No matter where you go there are triggers. It's great you have family and a safe place. Good for you for going to treatment.
The beginning is always rough but Stay sober and it will get easier
Gm. Go to meetings! Ask for help. We stay sober one day at a time. You must make this effort now. Take a deep breath and relax. Don't pick up and go to meetings and you will continue your path to sobriety. It works if you work it , the program of AA.
Meetings-meetings-meetings.everyday for a year.
Absolutely meetings. Keep your mind occupied by something that can help you rather than being alone and being surrounded by thoughts that will hurt you. Keep an open mind and look up some meetings and just go. It's really that simple. Best of luck.
Even if you have to sit on your hands or attend more than 1 meeting..do what you need to do to stay sober. Being around sober people at meetings is key to making sure your in a safe place.
When you feel like you don't want to go to a meeting that is the time you must go. When you drank nothing stop you from drinking…Life and your thoughts will get calmer over time but you must make an effort now. I'll pick up and go to meetings and you'll be OK. Talk to others who have been in your situation.
Sorry, DON'T pick up and go to meetings.... a typo
Meetings are available online 24 hours a day, via zoom. Check out
Sometimes just changing your routine helps. For instance if you used to shop at one store, go to another that takes you a different route.
