That's great advice, it's the kind to live your life by. Thank you

I did this thing where I got a boyfriend before I got sober because I knew once I got a sponsor she would advise me against relationships awhile (self will is a :honeybee:)... Well, needless to say when he relapsed I almost went with him.

The BEST dating advice I got in sobriety? Stay single awhile, then get a pet. If the pets still alive after a year, get a plant. If after another year both are still alive, I could consider dating. Sounds like forever, but it's allowed me to adjust to my new way of living and grow comfortable with my new found standards -holy moly I developed standards!?! Its also allowed me to become comfortable with MYSELF again.

Won't be for everyone, but it's been such a blessing for me. Being single awhile is way better than getting into shady half-a**ed relationships with someone who isn't worth my peace of mind & serenity; I've worked way too hard to find (and prioritize) that. Again, just me & my experience

Funny add on to your advice, Bekky. I got 2 dogs...a total of 4. I had to eventually rehome the two dogs. So, yes, to that advice. I would have been better off doing the plant first, pet second, and only ONE pet.:joy:

I don't know you, but I am friends with Kevin. A better way to verbally step on someone's neck, might be to private message them instead of doing it on a public domain. We can't see what Kevin said to you, but we can sure see how you responded. Just a thought.

I agree and that’s why I responded the way I did.. I’m
Sure you would not like to be spoken to with such language nor responded to in such a rude manner. I do understand that individuals sometimes misinterpret replies then in-turn comment without full knowledge of what was being said. Maybe he could have private messaged me.. that didn’t happen though.
In no way was a personal attack nor in any form ā€œstepping on one’s neckā€.
All in all he appears to be a nice guy.
People are where they are in there recovery and for me to judge and individual for where they are would not be healthy on my part.. but I will not tolerate verbal abuse from anyone.
I did not get clean to make friends or influence others nor have I stuck around to be miserable. So I do the best to my ability to live by what is called principles. (MY ABILITY NOT OTHERS)
besides that was yesterday
I do t hold grudges.. it’s simply a waist of time to me.
Thank you for sharing to me what you felt.
