Reach out calls. Get to an online meeting. Listen to some stories online. Message a friend in here.
Distraction helps me.

Ask God to do for you what we can’t do for ourselves

Yes-First of all. Thanks for your honesty and courage to "tell" on your disease. That is keeping you sober.....I would pray HARD IN THE MOMENT of temptation. Ask God to remove the desire to use drugs and drink

A grateful person will not drink. Write a list of things you are grateful for until the craving ends

Drinking wasn’t my problem it was fentanyl and meth :-p but I already make a gratitude list first thing every morning :-/ I’m not sure really what else to do :frowning:

You’re doing exactly what you’re supposed to be doing. Cravings are expected and normal. Your main goal is to not pick up and use. Reaching out and talking about it is a great start. I can’t explain why, but sharing this info is so many ch healthier than keeping it to yourself. Writing a gratitude list was another great choice. Keep making good one good choice after another until the cravings pass.

Feeling any better?

Cravings can be brutal and overwhelming. It may not feel like it now they do pass. I usually have to do something for my sobriety that I don’t feel like doing. For me it’s reaching out to a sponsor or another recovering person and go to a meeting. Hang in there. I’m cheering you on!!

Rewrite the list and make sure you have some hard candy around to suck on.

Mix some OJ with honey. Alcohol has lots of sugar. It will help curb cravings.

For true recovery I recommend AA meetings and the 12 Steps of AA.

How did you make out ?

This is a myth. Alcohol does not contain lots of sugar. And alcohol does not break down into sugar in the body. I’m not sure where this idea came from nor why it continues to be perpetuated as if it’s science. The exception is a mixed drink with added sugar and certain wines.

I’m not an alcoholic but thank you ! I’ll try to pass that advice onto somebody who is !!

I’m struggling with opiates, I’ve never drank. I’m so sick of making excuses. Hope you’re doing well

It curbs the cravings is all I can tell you. When I was drinking every day of my life the last thing in the world that I wanted was anything that was sweet. I later learned this remedy from older alcoholics.

You have something going on if you have cravings for alcohol. I assume it's alcohol you were talking about from your post.

People who are not alcoholics don't get cravings for alcohol.
I'm just speaking from experience

I was talking about my drugs of choice.

Definitely not alcohol lol
