One day is amazing, two days is amazing, any day without a drink or drug is amazing. And if I gotta cry I just cry. Good luck and I’ll say a prayer for you as you asked- and that is what its all about, asking for help and accepting and giving it.
Well hey man you did it!! Be proud of yourself!!! Alcohol isn’t our friend nor does it love us. Wish you many years of sobriety!!
I really appreciate that!! Thank you for being here, I can do this! And be so much more happier and healthy, I know Gods plan for me wasn’t this. That can’t be my story and I refuse to let it be! Thank you my friend and God Bless
Two days is a lot of something. Sometimes it’s getting thru a minute. Give yourself credit for those two days. Sometimes the only one boosting our progress is ourselves. Good luck!!
Thank you! The support on here is amazing!!
Awesome job. I day I tell myself is as good as 1 million. Today is the number that matters most.
Baby steps king, pretty soon you will look back seeing you just did a marathon
keep up the hard work.
We're here for ya! Vent sesh? Gotcha. Virtual hugs? Gotcha. Stay strong and keep your eye on the life you actually want.
2 days is awesome ! Keep going in trying to make it to 1 day.
I'm glad your mother helped you find a sponsor.
Do you know why we relapse? It's called believing the big lie;
That this time, everything will be OK. But it never is, is it?
We have to learn to play the scene forward. What happens if you drink. You may feel some relief and the 1st strength but sooner or later you will be right back where you are right now carrying around a lot more guilt, realizing you accomplished absolutely nothing.
There's a lot of things we have to do differently in the beginning. We need to have a network of friends that we can call on the phone and talk with when we are struggling. Friends who have a program in place themselves and have serious sobriety time.
We need to get to meetings every day for the 1st 90 days. When I 1st got sober, I went to meetings every day for almost 2 years. We need to put as much effort into our recovery as we did into drinking.
We don't have to spend the rest of our life going to meetings every day but it sure does help in the beginning.
Anthony I am not sure you value your time sober as meaningful because it’s only Day Two. However with long term sobriety you will know everyday you wake of without having taken a drink the previous day, each day you don’t have a hangover is a miracle. How can I get the sobriety of four and a half years if I don’t first have one day sober. You are comparing yourself with others perhaps and judging that you’re not as important. That’s not fair to yourself or the other person. It’s okay to cry. Males get the wrong idea about being tough and self sufficient. We’re you born able to walk, ride a bike, drive a car. And now you can do that without having to even think about it. Honestly you are a miracle because you help me by reminding me I am here to get help and accept it. What has worked for others can and does work for me. And if you want it and honestly openly are willing you some day will help others too and realize your current self is doing your best. Nobody can ask more than that. May your New Year be truly HAPPY JOYOUS AND FREE.
We all have at to get one hour, one day, and next. Do not beat yourself up, just learn what you could have done to not relapse and keep your chin up! I relapsed after 11 yrs, I don’t put as much ego into how long I’ve been sober. Each day is the most important one for me now. Take care buddy!
Thank you man, I really can’t believe the support on here, I’ve realized the people I call friends just might not be my friends. One of my “friends” called me Christmas Eve knowing how much I’m struggling asking to go hang out. First thing I remember they said was “I got beer” I sometimes wonder people think my struggle isn’t that bad I just think it is but deep inside I kno wat it causes me. How much hurt it causes my family. My grandma and my mom are my #1 supporter and she’s in her 80’s now. I want to do this for myself but also for my family. They deserve it and I deserve it. My daughter deserves her daddy to be sober. I got to do this
Thank you! Thank you for reaching out to me. Woke up this morning with all these encouraging comments from people I don’t even kno. But yet I feel like I do know.
I know wat you mean, I just sometimes feel like a broken record cause I’ve tried for years and talked about it for years that I want to stop drinking. Over and over, I’ve gone through the stages of saying” ok I’ll just stop drinking during the week” or “ I’ll just stop drinking wen I have to work the next day” or “I’ll just stop drinking when I have my daughter” and it never gets better. I’ll get off work after a long 24 hr day and go grab some beers cause I think “I deserve it I worked hard” I use to be able to do that but it’s become a problem and I can’t. I’ll stop and get more before I get home from work and there it goes after that first drink it’s gonna be more no matter what I do or say. That urge inside of me is burning harder then it was wen I got off work and now there’s nothing that’s gonna stop me from getting more l. I’ve realized I’ve got to put it down for good. It’s not the same anymore it use to be fun to drink but now it’s such a burden I regret it EVERYTIME! Thank you for taking the time to comment and talk to me.

Thank you Floyd, I will remember to be proud of today and not worry bout the next day. Thank you I’m realizing I can do this. I have never had this many people tell me I can do it and it feels amazing. Day 3 today and tho it’s New Years im not afraid of how hard it’s gonna be today. I get my daughter today and instead of my usual drink while she plays her games on her phone I think I want to take her on a hike. Try something different. All these years I’ve depended on alcohol to get through my day but I want to try something different and see what that brings in my life.
Day by day my friend , today is 19 days for me you can do this , reach out anytime
Yes sir thank you!! And Happy New Years!!
