Tomorrow is 90 days 🚀

Well, tomorrow is the big day… the longest milestone I’ve reached not drinking since I was 17. In some ways it doesn’t feel like a big deal or momentous in any way. In others, it’s an absolute life-changing checkpoint. If there is one thing I’ve never been good at, it’s giving myself credit for major achievements. So, here are a few:

Over the past 90 days, I…

  1. Went on my first sober vacation, outside of the country.
  2. Went to my first concert without drinking.
  3. Dove into the program for the first time.
  4. Got my @ss kicked by emotional tidal waves.
  5. Stopped complaining about emotional tidal waves.
  6. Lost a good 15lbs of liquor weight.
  7. Probably saved my own life.
  8. Made a few big amends (many more to come).
  9. Watched my mom also get sober.
  10. Reconnected with friends and family members I hadn’t talked to in far, far too long.

This journey isn’t exactly pretty. It’s not a perfect joy ride with each day getting better than the last. Some days trough down while the next peaks and so on. But, if you look at the average of these past 90 days compared to the previous 90 days, my floor and ceiling have been raised my miles.

Cheers to more life, more time in each day, better relationships all around, and the occasional emotional meltdown along the way. :rocket:
