Sure does. You need to put in the work tho to make it better. No magic wands. Meetings? A program? Getting plugged into something greater than you. Can’t get better alone.

It took me 3 weeks. It could be longer for you. But it’ll come. I know it will. You’ll find happiness in something else.

When I first got sober and started reading physiological effects of alcohol, I was shocked to read that the brain could take up to six years to regain normal function that of prior alcohol use. Eight years later I can say that it did take a few years for things to get back to normal. As far as impulses and just a regular regimen. Will it take six years?? No. Will it take forever if you don't find healthy habits to take your mind off of using or drinking? Of course.

it really does get better, trust me i know it doesn’t feel like it will. the first month was booty but soon you’ll be like heck ya who know i could be this happy sober. either way, there’s still going to be those depressing times but dealing w it sober can allow yourself to grow and heal rather than being under the influence and continuing that cycle - amazing job (: it gets easier

It does get better. Give it a chance. Read pages 83 and 84 to see what lays ahead!

May need to step up your meetings.:dromedary_camel:

I’m over a couple years sober and still feel that way often. It’s gets better but still come back at times. For me it’s just going to take a long time to learn to live differently after 30 years. Sometime quickly, sometimes slowly…./

As many say, being dry and being sober are two very different things. Sobriety requires effort to keep your mind fit, whatever your path, give it your all like you did to keep drinking. Step zero is telling ourselves I’ll only drink when I’m with certain people, in specific situations, justifying a behavior we know doesn’t work for us. History proves that thinking is wrong. Go all in on sobriety and you’ll see results. Don’t get hung up on zero. If you work the program…replace We for I in the first step, this is the only one we can’t have help with. It’s gotta come from within you and only you.
